EMMA WILSON - OWNER / WEDDING PLANNER

Emma Wilson, owner of Black Tie Weddings, has been a resident of the Outer Banks for over 17 years.   She is a seasoned wedding planner, with a thorough knowledge of the area and latest wedding trends.  With over 8 years of experience, Emma brings great advantages to all of the couples she works with, offering services that will certainly exceed all your expectations.

Emma began her event-planning career at The Sanderling Resort, working with both Corporate and Social/Wedding Events. After learning about the business, she moved on to work with a local Real Estate Company as their Event Planner. Realizing her goal to become a Wedding Planner who could be of service to every couple planning a destination wedding on the Outer Banks, she decided to start her own business.  Emma wanted to make sure she had the most up to date knowledge in every aspect of planning weddings, so she completed an extensive Certification Course through National Bridal Service to obtain Certification as a Wedding Specialist, the only Event Planner on the Outer Banks with this Honor.

Emma opened Black Tie Affair in November of 2003 as a Wedding Planning Company and has continued to grow the business into what is now the Outer Banks only Full Service Bridal Boutique.  In 2006, Emma realized that the business had grown substantially and ensued a business partner, Donna Wilson, who handles the majority of the day-to-day management of the Bridal Boutique.  It was important to Emma that all her clients had plenty of time and attention throughout their planning process, she is available most hours of the day, evening and weekends to work within the schedules of busy brides and their families.

Early in 2007, it became apparent that separating the Bridal Boutique and creating a NEW name strictly for wedding planning was necessary. And this is how Black Tie Weddings was created.

Emma has been on the Board of Directors of the Outer Banks Wedding Association for the past four years, serving currently as Vice President.  She has had many of her weddings published in various magazines and will be happy to provide you with references of previous clients and local business professionals.

Emma lives in Kill Devil Hills with her three children and loves what the Outer Banks has to offer families and children.  You will likely find her at the beach anytime she has a day off, don’t be surprised if you get a phone call to discuss your event and go over details while she is sitting in the sun, thinking of ideas for your perfect Outer Banks wedding.

JENNIFER WILSON - WEDDING COORDINATOR
 
Jennifer Wilson, Wedding Coordinator with Black Tie Weddings, has been an Outer Banks resident for over 17 years. As an employee of a local real estate company, Jennifer understands the intricacies involved in planning and holding a destination wedding at a Vacation Rental Home on the Outer Banks. With just over 3 years of experience, Jennifer’s fresh face and unique ideas, plus her intimate knowledge of the area and the latest wedding trends, will be a definite bonus to all of the couples she works with, exceeding all expectations for a wonderful day.

Jennifer began her wedding planning career in late 2004 with Black Tie Affair, the Outer Banks’ only Full Service Bridal Boutique, as an apprentice to Emma Wilson. While studying under Emma, Jennifer took a course on Wedding Planning to further her knowledge at the local community college. Jennifer also holds a position with a local real estate company as their wedding liaison, working with wedding parties and homeowners for mutually beneficial weddings. She will be happy to provide references from previous clients and local business professionals.

Jennifer lives in Kill Devil Hills with her faithful canine companion and enjoys living on the Outer Banks. During her downtime, you will likely find her creating unique jewelry in her jewelry studio or just hanging out with a good book. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself receiving phone calls or emails from Jennifer with ideas to make your Outer Banks wedding unique and perfect, all while she is curled up on the couch with her dog, Sadie.
